With few days left for him in the force, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr Richard Moigbe and others have allegedly reached a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to retire with their current official vehicles.
Sources from the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have revealed that the decision was taken at the Executive Management Board (EMB) meeting on Wednesday 12 February 2020 at the force National Headquarters, George Street.
According to the sources, selfish decisions that suit the comfort of the top echelon of the force in recent times are taking in haste at the EMB, the highest decision-making organ of the force which is chaired by the IGP.
One of such decisions is the alleged retirement benefit packages of the current IGP, DIG and AIGs which include their current official vehicles worth billions of leones.
“SLP,” the sources went, “on is currently indebted to their rice supplier to a sum close to thirteen billion leones (Le13b) making the force to have gone five months without rice supply.”
The IGP is alleged to have diverted two of the vehicles of the force vehicle to his private use; SLP 072 and SLP 111. It is alleged his wife and daughter use the two vehicles, at a time when Western Police at Adelaide Street and Rokel Police Stations do not have operational vehicles.
The sources further revealed that Le25,000 is deducted every month from the salary of every police officer for medical which they are not benefiting.
Beneficiaries of the police official vehicles comprise twenty nine (29) senior officers that make up the EMB, among whom are the Inspector General of Police, Dr. Richard Moigbe, His Deputy Foday U K Daboh and the 27 AIGs
